LabSmith Sponsors Short Course, Presents at LabAutomation 2011

LabSmith will be participating in multiple ways at the Lab Automation 2011 Conference and Exhibition, Jan 29 - Feb 2, 2011 at the Palm Springs Convention Center, Palm Springs, California.

LabSmith Provides Hands-On Experience for Microfluidics Short Course

LabSmith will contribute equipment and expertise for participants in the Microfluidics I/II Short Course to be held Jan 29 and 30, 8:30am - 4:30pm. The two-day course will serve to introduce microfluidics technology's and its applications for the life sciences. Attendees will receive a compact overview of the important aspects of working with liquids in confined spaces as well as handling of minute amounts of chemicals for the development of functional lab-on-a-chip devices. Instructors will be: Jörg P. Kutter, Ph.D., Dept. of Micro and Nanotechnology, Technical University of Denmark; Johan Nilsson, Ph.D., Department of Electrical Measurement, Lund University; and Sabeth Verpoorte, Ph.D., Groningen Research Institute of Pharmacy, University of Groningen.

In support of this educational opportunity LabSmith will be providing its LabPackage components, including CapTite™ microfluidic components, microfluidic ChipShop polymer chips, HVS High Voltage Sequencers and SVM340 Synchronized Video Microscopes. The workshop will provide a unique opportunity to learn about these products in a highly focused learning environment.

Yolanda Fintschenko to Present

Yolanda Fintschenko, Ph.D., LabSmith's Director of New Technologies, Marketing and Sales, will be presenting a talk entitled, Automated Modular Interface for Microfluidic Separations and Fluorescent Detection, on  Monday, January 31, 2011 at 4 pm. The presentation will be part of the Detection and Separation Section, Track 1, Innovation in Commercialization of Separation Device, chaired by Carlos Garcia, University of Texas, San Antonio . The preliminary program can be found at: http://www.slas.org/LA11/LA11_PrelimProgram.pdf.

LabSmith Products on Display

LabSmith will be demonstrating its microfluidic research products in Booth #387 (map), including the new epifluorescence option for the SVM340 Synchronized Video Microscope, and new automated microfluidic valves for micro- and nano-fluidic circuit construction.
