Routing fluids can be one of the most agonizing and time-consuming
tasks of microfluidic research. Poor world-to-chip hardware, bulky
components, leaky seals, and dead volumes erode performance and
reliability. Even simple capillary separations can require a full
day's construction — not including the hours spent digging
through catalogs for the right components.
Finally, however, there is a better option. LabSmith's new CapTite
breadboard-based components and microminiature, high-performance
connections take this pain out of microfluidic research, helping
you to focus on gathering data rather than constructing your setups.
CapTite components give you everything you need to build, and re-build,
microfluidic setups — all inter-compatible, all ready to use.
Based on components developed by Sandia National Laboratories, these
360 µm microfluidic products include breadboards*, ferrules*,
tees and crosses*, refillable
cartridges, valves* and tools. Compact, simple components are
thoughtfully designed for leak-free connectivity, even at high pressures.
The photos above shows the compact nature of CapTite components
— a welcome relief from bulky, multi-piece fittings and components.
Setups for simple tasks such as one-step separations can be built
up in a fraction of the time and footprint of other fittings.
What's more, CapTite components enable build-up of complex setups
that cannot be completed easily by other methods, including complete
sample prep and analysis systems. You can also add bonded-port
connections* to route fluids through and between chips securely:
no more world-to-chip headaches!
All CapTite components are designed for low dead volumes and easy
cleaning, enabling long life over multiple runs. Complete construction
kits are available, with everything you need to build up experiment
after experiment, for great value with little waste.
Whether your application includes sample preparation, separations
or other microfluidic setups, LabSmith's CapTite components will
give you more than you've come to expect, at a fraction of the price
of other components.

Micro-liter volume cartridges can be filled, and refilled, with
many types of packing, for applications such as biomolecule
concentration, reverse phase andion exchange. Easily disassembled
and cleaned, the cartridges enable high-speed processing of
small volumes (2ul-100ul) for high throughput sample preparation.
